Escape the New York Rush Inside the "TWILIGHT ZONE: HIDDEN WONDERS OF THE OCEAN" Artechouse NYC

New York is known for its nonstop energy. But tucked beneath the streets of New York, Teen Vibes Magazine and our group of talents discovered something completely different: a chance to escape the city without ever actually leaving it. During our NYFW trip, ARTECHOUSE NYC hosted Teen Vibes Magazine and our talents for private time inside its immersive Chelsea Market location, giving our group the opportunity to experience a world where art, technology, movement and sound come together in a seriously unforgettable way.

From a Historic Boiler Room to an Undersea Wonderland, part of what makes ARTECHOUSE NYC so fascinating is the setting itself. Hidden beneath Chelsea Market, the experience occupies a historic former boiler room space...but once you enter the main installation, its industrial past seems to disappear.

For our visit, the enormous 270 degree projection environment transformed the space into a wondrous undersea world. Suddenly, we weren't thinking about Manhattan traffic, packed schedules or where we needed to be next. We were surrounded by color, movement, light and sound. Massive digital imagery stretched across the room, creating the sensation of stepping directly into another environment rather than simply looking at a piece of art. And that's really the magic of ARTECHOUSE: you don't just view the art. You enter it.

For our talents, who had spent NYFW surrounded by photographers, fashion and fast moving events, it was a completely different kind of visual experience.

Have you ever witnessed art that actually responds to you? The experience extends beyond the massive projection room. Our group was also able to explore ARTECHOUSE's interactive stations, where technology allows elements of the installations to respond to movement. Walk, move, reach or interact, and what you're seeing can react right along with you. It is playful enough to immediately pull you in, but there is also something strangely mesmerizing about it. The combination of sight, sound, movement and technology has a way of tickling your brain and making you want to experiment just to see what happens next. Of course, with the Teen Vibes crew involved, there were plenty of pictures. One of the fun extras was the souvenir photo booth, which gave everyone another chance to capture the experience and leave with a memory from our visit.

One of our favorite things about putting together a Teen Vibes Magazine NYFW itinerary is finding experiences beyond the expected fashion week schedule. Yes, we love the shoots, the fashion, the parties and the excitement. But New York has so much more to experience, and ARTECHOUSE gave our group something we didn't realize we needed until we walked inside: a little room to breathe. For visitors who want to slow down and stay awhile, the location also features a full bar with an attendant, making it easy to grab a refreshment while taking in the atmosphere. That versatility is another reason we loved it. Come with a group of friends and it can be a fun, highly Instagrammable afternoon. Come with a significant other and it becomes a unique New York date experience. And honestly? Come alone and it could be just as special...a place to unplug from the outside world, wander through the installations and give yourself some time to simply look, listen and think.

New York Fashion Week can feel like the entire city is moving at full speed, which made stepping into ARTECHOUSE feel even more dramatic. For a little while, there were no crowded sidewalks or racing to the next destination. Instead, we were surrounded by an underwater world of light, sound and digital art beneath one of New York City's most recognizable destinations (THE CHELSEA MARKET). It was immersive without feeling overwhelming, interactive without feeling gimmicky, and visually impressive enough to make you stop and take everything in. Most importantly, our talents had the chance to have fun together. ARTECHOUSE turned out to be a wonderful addition to the Teen Vibes Magazine NYFW itinerary and one of those experiences that reminds you that some of the coolest places in New York are hiding just beneath the surface.

When the city gets loud, head underground. You might just find another world waiting for you.
