For Mia Perez, leadership isn't measured by titles but instead by the lives you impact. As Miss Grand Terrace Teen USA 2026, the 17 year old is preparing to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA while already making a remarkable difference in her school and community. Whether she's leading student government, volunteering with children, excelling in athletics, or pursuing a future in medicine and education, Mia is committed to living a life centered on service, compassion, and purpose.

A student at Colton High School, Mia has embraced every opportunity to grow as both a leader and role model. She serves as Associated Student Body President, competes in both competition and sideline cheerleading, participates in Track & Field, and is enrolled in the school's HEAL Medical Pathway, preparing for a future in healthcare. In addition to her demanding academic and extracurricular schedule, Mia works in her school's nutritional services department, helping provide meals to more than 1,000 students each day. Through every role she takes on, she strives to lead with humility while encouraging others to believe in their own potential.

Outside of school, Mia's greatest passion is serving her community. As a Children's Ministry Group Lead, she mentors young children while helping them grow in confidence and faith. She also brings smiles to countless families through her work as a character performer, creating magical experiences for children with disabilities, youth in foster care, families facing financial hardships, and others navigating difficult circumstances. Seeing the joy these moments bring has inspired Mia to expand her outreach even further by developing opportunities to provide art lessons for children who may not otherwise have access to creative experiences. She believes that art has the power to heal, build confidence, and allow young people to express themselves in ways words sometimes cannot.

Despite balancing a schedule that would challenge most adults, Mia has learned that true success requires more than simply staying busy. "It can definitely be overwhelming at times," she says. "I've learned that staying organized, prioritizing my responsibilities, and making time for self-care allows me to continue showing up as my best self."

For Mia, self care isn't about stepping away from her responsibilities but about finding strength through the things that matter most. Spending time creating art, strengthening her faith, and enjoying moments with family allows her to recharge while remaining focused on her goals. In a world where social media often pressures young people to compare themselves to unrealistic standards, Mia has found a different source of confidence.

"I choose to let my faith shape my identity instead of social media," she explains. "Knowing who God says I am allows me to walk confidently in my purpose." Rather than measuring her worth through likes or followers, Mia remains grounded by focusing on serving others, pursuing meaningful goals, and living according to her values. Her unwavering faith has become the foundation that guides every decision she makes.

As someone passionate about pageantry, Mia also hopes to challenge one of its biggest misconceptions.

"Many people think pageants are only about appearances," she says. "While the dresses and glam are fun, pageantry is really about leadership, service, and making a difference." She believes titleholders represent much more than beauty...they are students, volunteers, employees, athletes, and community leaders dedicated to making a positive impact. For Mia, wearing a crown symbolizes a commitment to serving others rather than seeking recognition.

One organization especially close to her heart is Mansion Memories, a nonprofit that creates joyful experiences for children and families facing illness, loss, or other life challenges. Through volunteering, Mia has witnessed firsthand how a simple act of kindness can completely transform a child's day.

"I've seen how laughter, imagination, and compassion can give families hope during incredibly difficult times," she says. "Those moments remind me that even small acts of kindness can leave lasting memories."

Her dedication to service is matched only by her determination to succeed. One of the accomplishments Mia is most proud of is helping her team earn a National Cheer Championship which taught Mia lessons she continues to carry into every aspect of life. "There were moments of exhaustion, setbacks, and self-doubt," she reflects. "But I learned that your limits are often much farther than you think. When you trust the process, work hard, and continue giving your best even when it's difficult, you're capable of accomplishing incredible things." That mindset has shaped the confident young woman preparing to compete on one of California's biggest stages.

Looking ahead, Mia hopes to combine her passions for science, creativity, and education by pursuing careers in both the medical field and higher education, with the dream of one day becoming an art professor. She believes healthcare and the arts both have the power to heal people in different but equally meaningful ways, and she hopes to inspire future generations to discover confidence through creativity.

As Miss Grand Terrace Teen USA, Mia Perez beautifully represents the values of leadership, faith, perseverance, and compassion. Whether she's serving meals at school, mentoring children through ministry, volunteering with organizations that bring hope to families, creating opportunities through art, or leading her classmates as ASB President, she continues to demonstrate that true beauty comes from a heart dedicated to serving others.
