At just 16 years old, Gina De Bosschère has already lived a life that spans continents, cultures, and creative experiences most people only dream about. Known professionally as GinaDeBoss, the French-Korean singer-songwriter, dancer, model, and reigning Miss Ventura County Teen USA is preparing to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA 2026. But while her résumé is filled with impressive accomplishments, from training under one of South Korea's biggest entertainment companies to releasing original music and studying at Harvard...it's her thoughtful perspective, compassion for others, and fearless pursuit of opportunity that truly define her.

Raised between France, South Korea, India, Canada, and the United States, Gina developed a global outlook long before stepping onto a stage. She began writing songs at just 11 years old, collaborating with producers across the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, and Korea before earning the attention of JYP Entertainment, one of South Korea's most influential entertainment companies. As JYP's first French-Korean trainee, Gina spent two years training full-time in Seoul before competing on A2K, the international audition series created by JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. At only 13 years old, she advanced all the way to the finale, introducing audiences around the world to her talent, determination, and work ethic.

Today, she's continuing to write and release her own dance-pop music, including her debut single, "Amnesia," while also pursuing academics, modeling, pageantry, and community service. For Gina, success has never been about choosing one passion over another. It's about embracing every opportunity that allows her to grow.

If Gina could use her platform to bring awareness to one issue affecting teens today, she wouldn't tell young people to avoid social media. Instead, she'd encourage them to understand it. "As a model, former K-pop trainee, and independent artist, I use social media professionally," Gina explains. "That means I'm constantly deciding what to share and what to keep private." Her curiosity about digital platforms led her to attend Harvard University's Pre-College Program, where she studied Social Media Law...an experience that deepened her understanding of how technology influences nearly every aspect of modern society.

"We often think social media only has to stay within legal boundaries," she says. "But behind it are private companies whose own policies shape public opinion in ways that laws alone cannot." From Meta and YouTube to X, Gina believes today's platforms carry enormous responsibility. Not only for businesses and governments but for individual users as well. "I think teens should understand early that every post isn't just between us and the people around us. Together, our posts shape the society we live in." Her advice is simple but powerful: protect your privacy, separate your public and private lives, and remember that every digital footprint matters.

When Gina reflects on the person who has shaped her life the most, her answer comes immediately.

Her mother. From an early age, her mom encouraged her to dream boldly while giving her the confidence to pursue opportunities without fear. "She always says, 'If something feels like a real opportunity and you believe you can rise to it, just go for it.'" That philosophy has guided nearly every chapter of Gina's remarkable journey.

It gave her the courage to move to South Korea at 11 years old, train in one of the world's most competitive entertainment industries, collaborate with international creatives, direct and produce eleven of her own music videos, and continue balancing school alongside an expanding music career. "She never tried to clear the road for me," Gina says. "She just made sure I had the courage to walk through it." It's a lesson that continues to shape every goal she pursues today.

Balancing academics, music, modeling, pageantry, and creative projects requires extraordinary discipline, but Gina believes the secret isn't perfection. It's having purpose. "I've always been the kind of person who needs a goal," she says. "If I don't know where I'm trying to go, it's hard for me to stay motivated." Each year she sets meaningful goals, creates a plan, and works consistently toward them...even when life becomes overwhelming.

One lesson she's learned is that opportunities rarely arrive at convenient times. Moving across the world to train in Korea, directing music videos, working with international producers, and studying at Harvard all happened while she was balancing school and everyday life. Rather than waiting for the perfect moment, Gina has learned to say "yes" and figure out the details along the way. "I don't spend much energy comparing myself to other people," she explains. "I admire and learn from them, but my real competition has always been myself." For self-care, her answer is refreshingly practical. Sleep. "If I'm exhausted, everything else falls apart." It's a reminder that even the most ambitious dreams require healthy habits and balance.

If crowned Miss California Teen USA, Gina already knows the cause she hopes to champion. Helping missing people return home. Surprisingly, the inspiration came from rescuing abandoned kittens with her family.

After caring for frightened animals that had experienced separation and loss, Gina found herself imagining what that fear would feel like for a child or family experiencing the unimaginable. "If a kitten can carry that kind of fear from being separated, imagine how it must feel for a person." She believes every AMBER Alert represents more than a notification. Behind each one is a family desperately hoping someone will help bring their loved one home. Through her platform, Gina hopes to partner with organizations that assist missing persons while sharing one missing person's story every month to help keep their names and faces in the public eye. "The message I want to send is simple," she says. "You are not forgotten."

Like many contestants, Gina has encountered misconceptions about pageantry throughout her journey.

She believes many people assume competitions focus only on physical appearance. Her experience tells a very different story. "Pageantry isn't simply measuring someone's face or body," she explains. "It's looking at how beautifully a person is living their life." To Gina, pageantry is about leadership, service, intelligence, resilience, and giving young women a platform to advocate for causes that matter. She also sees similarities between misconceptions about pageantry and misconceptions about pursuing a career in entertainment.

As a singer, model, and public figure, she's received countless comments telling her to stop chasing her dreams and focus on school. The irony? She never stopped. While building her music career, Gina maintained strong grades, volunteered more than 100 hours at a surgical veterinary clinic in Los Angeles, cared for rescued animals, studied with tutors, and continued challenging herself academically...including attending Harvard's Pre-College Program. "I've spent a long time proving the opposite," she says. "Someone can chase a dream and still take school and the world around them just as seriously." Rather than arguing with critics, she simply lets her work speak for itself.

Whether she's writing songs, directing music videos, competing on stage, studying social media law, or advocating for families searching for missing loved ones, Gina De Bosschère continues to prove that leadership comes in many forms. Her global perspective, artistic discipline, intellectual curiosity, and genuine compassion make her a standout both on and off the pageant stage. As she prepares to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA 2026, Gina hopes to inspire young people to embrace opportunity, remain curious, and never be afraid to pursue ambitious dreams. Because if her journey has shown anything, it's that remarkable things happen when courage meets preparation. And for Gina De Bosschère, this is only the beginning.
