Some young women pursue opportunities. Others create opportunities that leave a lasting impact on everyone around them. Julia Kim, Miss Inland Empire Teen USA, is doing exactly that. As she prepares to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA 2026, Julia brings with her an extraordinary combination of leadership, service, athleticism, creativity, and innovation. From serving her community and excelling in athletics to modeling on the runway and developing technology that encourages civic engagement, Julia is proving that the next generation of leaders isn't waiting for the future...they're building it today.
Throughout high school, Julia embraced every opportunity to grow while making an impact on those around her. She served two years as Associated Student Body Vice President, led her varsity volleyball team as a four-year captain, earned Most Valuable Player honors, and showcased her love for the performing arts as a member of the principal cast in her school's spring musical. Beyond campus, she competed nationally in the highest division of club volleyball, modeled during Los Angeles Fashion Week, and gained valuable professional experience through internships in both the culinary and technology industries. This fall, Julia will continue her remarkable journey at the University of Southern California, where she will major in International Relations Global Business while continuing to develop HOPSIGN, an innovative app designed to make civic engagement and petitioning more accessible for the next generation.
Service has always been at the heart of Julia's leadership. As Vice President of Leadership and Communications for the National Charity League, she helped coordinate volunteer efforts supporting more than 33 charitable organizations. One of her most meaningful experiences was helping lead a mission trip to Mexico, where volunteers worked together to build a long awaited community center for local families. Those moments reinforced Julia's belief that leadership isn't about recognition but about showing up, serving others, and creating opportunities that leave communities stronger than before.
When asked what inspired her to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA, Julia answers with one simple but powerful word: potential.
"Miss California Teen USA represents incredible potential," Julia explains. "It provides a platform on a scale that few other opportunities can match. Competing has already introduced me to so many inspiring young women, and the title offers the chance to create meaningful impact, grow as a leader, and inspire others to believe in themselves."
For Julia, the pageant is about far more than a crown. It is an opportunity to recognize her own potential while using that platform to help others discover theirs. One issue Julia feels especially passionate about is combating complacency among today's youth. She believes that while young people are constantly exposed to important issues through social media and the news, it's easy to become passive observers rather than active participants. "Awareness is important," she says, "but real impact begins when we choose to care enough to respond."
Whether encouraging civic engagement through her HOPSIGN app or volunteering in her community, Julia hopes to inspire teens to move beyond simply recognizing problems and begin becoming part of the solution.
Despite balancing an incredibly full schedule, Julia has learned that success doesn't come from sacrificing one part of life for another. Instead, she views academics, extracurricular activities, and self-care as equally important pieces of the same purpose.
"Once I stopped seeing my responsibilities as competing priorities and started seeing them as parts of the same mission, everything became more intentional," Julia explains. "Academics help me grow intellectually, extracurriculars allow me to lead and express myself, and self-care keeps me grounded enough to give my best in everything I do."
One of Julia's favorite ways to recharge is through journaling, a habit she has maintained since elementary school. Looking back through entries she wrote in fifth grade reminds her just how much she has grown over the years. Those reflections have taught her to appreciate every stage of life while embracing both the challenges and victories that continue shaping the person she is becoming.

For young girls who dream of one day stepping onto the Miss California Teen USA stage, Julia offers heartfelt encouragement. "You can always come to me for advice or support," she says. "Failure isn't something to fear but just part of the journey itself. Every setback teaches you something valuable and prepares you for what's next. Stay confident in who you are because every step forward, whether it feels like success or failure, is still moving you toward your goals."
As Miss Inland Empire Teen USA, Julia already embodies the qualities of resilience, compassion, and leadership that define exceptional role models. With her passion for service, commitment to innovation, and desire to inspire others to take action, she hopes to continue building opportunities that empower young people long after the pageant is over.
As she prepares to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA 2026, Julia Kim represents a generation that believes leadership is measured not by titles, but by action. Whether she's leading student organizations, competing on the volleyball court, serving communities across borders, developing groundbreaking technology, or encouraging others to realize their own potential, Julia continues to demonstrate that true success comes from using your talents to uplift those around you. Teen Vibes Magazine is proud to spotlight Julia's inspiring journey and looks forward to watching this remarkable young leader continue making a difference wherever life takes her.
