At just 15 years old, MaryAlice Powell, Miss Teen Chico, is already proving that leadership isn't defined by age but by character, perseverance, and a genuine desire to make a difference. As she prepares to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA, MaryAlice brings with her an inspiring story of determination, faith, academic excellence, and service to her community. Whether she's excelling in the classroom, competing on the athletic field, advocating for others, or encouraging local businesses, MaryAlice is building a future rooted in compassion and purpose.

An honor roll student with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Maryalice has learned to thrive while balancing an incredibly demanding schedule. She participates in sideline cheer, soccer, and track at her high school while also competing in allstar cheer, club soccer, and weightlifting outside of school. Despite long days that often include classes, practices, competitions, and hours of homework, she refuses to let exhaustion stand in the way of her goals. "There have been times when I had school, soccer, cheer practice, and homework all in the same day for months at a time," Maryalice says. "Whether it was a good day or a bad day, I never allowed myself to give up."

She credits her persistence, discipline, and faith for helping her stay focused. Each evening she allows herself a few minutes to unwind before ending the day with gratitude, thanking God for another opportunity to grow and challenge herself. That mindset has helped her develop resilience far beyond her years. MaryAlice recently earned the title of Miss Teen Chico, a role she has already embraced with enthusiasm and purpose. She uses her platform to support downtown Chico by creating promotional videos that encourage residents to shop locally and invest in the businesses that help strengthen their community. She also completed the six week Forever a Queen Academy, where she developed leadership, communication, etiquette, and public speaking skills while learning from accomplished women who continue to inspire her journey.

Another cause close to MaryAlice's heart is Celiac Disease awareness. Diagnosed at just seven years old, she learned early how to advocate for herself while navigating the challenges of living with the autoimmune disease. Today, she openly shares her story in hopes of educating others, supporting families facing similar experiences, and promoting greater understanding throughout her community. Rather than allowing her diagnosis to limit her, Maryalice has transformed it into an opportunity to encourage resilience and empathy in others.

One of the accomplishments MaryAlice treasures most came when she was selected to sing the National Anthem before thousands of spectators at one of the biggest high school football games of the year. After successfully auditioning against many talented performers, she earned one of only a handful of coveted spots to perform throughout the season. "The experience taught me that it's okay to be scared," she reflects. "There will always be people who doubt you or criticize you, but if you never do something that scares you, you'll never learn how to become fearless." That lesson has become a guiding principle in both her pageant journey and her everyday life.

Looking toward the future, MaryAlice has set ambitious goals that combine service, medicine, and patriotism. She dreams of attending the United States Air Force Academy, where she hopes to serve her country while pursuing a career as an anesthesiologist. Her passion for medicine began after watching her mother undergo unexpected back surgery. While waiting anxiously with her father at the hospital, MaryAlice later learned how the anesthesiologist helped comfort and reassure her mother before the procedure. "Hearing how the anesthesiologist helped keep my mom calm during such a frightening experience made a lasting impression on me," she explains. "It inspired me to pursue a career where I can provide comfort, support, and confidence to people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives."

Whether serving in the military or caring for patients, MaryAlice hopes to dedicate her future to helping others through compassion, strength, and service. Although Miss California Teen USA is only the second pageant she has ever entered, MaryAlice says the experience has already changed her life in remarkable ways. It has strengthened her confidence, deepened her faith, and introduced her to friendships and experiences she will carry with her forever. Her advice for younger girls is simple but powerful:
"Never let a good opportunity pass you by....chase it. When you have the courage to step outside your comfort zone and pursue your dreams, you'll discover strengths within yourself that you never knew existed."

If crowned Miss California Teen USA, MaryAlice hopes to use her platform to encourage more young women to experience the confidence, communication skills, leadership, and personal growth that pageantry can provide. She also plans to inspire communities across California to volunteer, support local businesses, and recognize that even the smallest acts of kindness and service can create lasting change. "Supporting local businesses is especially important to me because every purchase helps support someone's dream," she says. "True success comes from using your influence to uplift others."

As MaryAlice Powell prepares to compete for the title of Miss California Teen USA, she already embodies many of the qualities that define exceptional leadership. Those are integrity, humility, perseverance, compassion, and faith. Whether she's encouraging others through community service, advocating for Celiac Disease awareness, pursuing academic excellence, or working toward a future in medicine and military service, she continues to prove that true beauty comes from a heart dedicated to serving others. Teen Vibes Magazine is proud to spotlight Maryalice's inspiring journey and looks forward to watching this remarkable young woman continue making a positive impact throughout California and beyond.
